Colour Schemes and Themes

Our Colour scheme is burgundy, pinks and ivory,

I've been advised against this colour scheme, as it is quite a tricky one to nail on the head, and if you mess it up, it can look like an odd-bodge of colours. We absolutely love it though, so it is staying (my stubbornness is unnerving on occasion). David Tutera (My Fair Wedding - a US show - TV personality) would poo-poo it, as I have seen this happen on one of the episodes I've watched. But I'll prove you wrong, Tutera! You'll see :)

Here are some more examples of the colour scheme we are aiming for:

The theme we chose is olde worlde, romantic, fairytale. Which I know sounds a bit random but it actually worked beautifully.

These were our inspirations:

We didn't really want a 'theme' in the typical sense of Las Vegas or Disney...you know, something along those lines, but we fell in love with a romantic, parisian, vintage theme we saw one night when I was looking for inspiration on my laptop. My fiance Mark went "Oooooo", this was the only enthusiasm that was shown up until that point and I fell in love with it too. See these pictures and you can see why...

As Mark is a writer at heart and a budding new english teacher, we loved the idea where books are used as centre pieces (bear with me, I know this is starting to sound strange - I got a similar confused expression from my mum when I tried explaining it to her). We loved twinkly candle lights, different shaped bottles and vintage pieces to give it that old romantic feel. Here are some of our inspiration pictures to give you an idea of what we are going for:

Have a look at our centre pieces and tables page to see what we decided on!
