About me

I am a real bride-to-be. This blog has been created to share my experiences, the highs, the lows and the ups and the downs of wedding planning. I hope that it will inspire and inform you on all things wedding!

About me

Here I am on the same night that my fiancé proposed :)

My name is Lyndsay, I was born in april 1987, I am a sister to two brothers, one sister and I am the youngest and the first in our family to be getting married.

Our immediate family are extremely close. We have had to overcome a lot, probably more than most families would ever have to in their lifetime, but as a result it has bonded us all stronger than ever. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for them and I would not have the strength to keep going if it was not for their love and support. I count myself extremely lucky in comparison to other families that argue and disrespect each other.

My parents, especially my mother, taught me early on to be as independent as I could possibly be and most of my decisions were based on gaining this independence, such as going to University to get a degree in advertising and brand management, something I am very passionate about.

I can count all of my best friends on one hand, and I would do anything for any of them.

I'm obsessed with bargains and to date, I have managed to not pay full price for anything so far related to our wedding day. In the real world I am a buyer for a brilliant company, I believe my bargain hunting skills have paid off dividends for this role as it makes me eager to save money anywhere I can, without compromising on quality.

I'm very shy naturally, I always have been, so my greatest achievement growing up was performing a song in front of my entire school for a talent contest, which I came second place. I was competing against a very talented singer and guitarist who wrote his own song for the show... I couldn't really compete with that! It was from here that I started to come out of my shell a bit more but my confidence (like most ladies) fluctuates from day to day. When you get to know me, people describe me as bubbly and cute (I asked my friends and these were the words they used, not being big-headed), so maybe I give off a different vibe when you get to know me.

I'd say I am a nice person to everyone I meet, I try to make the most of life and I try to help people as much as I can. I am a big believer in karma and doing good for others. I am not religious, but I am spiritual. Which only goes as far as saying 'I am spiritual'. I don't do crystals or anything like that, I just believe if my energy is positive, that others will feel this too and believe it themselves.

This is the first blog I've created and it is mainly so that my head does not explode with so many ideas. I call this blog my word and picture vomit board! (not nice connotations but you get the idea). And if I help or inspire other brides on the way, then great!
